a fall mood blog for all us freaks buying pumpkins in august

I uh….love fall (on the Buzzfeed quiz I got 100% autumn) If I could enter through a pumpkin portal into a perpetually fall world, I would and I would stay there (with an occasional vacation because I also like being warm).

(Also, please understand that though my love for fall is endless and knows no bounds, at the beginning of this year I also wanted to move to like Florida, so….take much of what I say with a pinch of salt.)

I usually don’t start feeling fall this early, but I think because this summer has been so sucky for me I’m just ready to dive right into my favorite season, hoping the cloudy, windy skies and moody days will wash away all the ickyness.

And autumn also makes me want to WRITE. The very air of autumn is filled with inspiration. It makes me want to WRITE ALL THE THINGS.

So we’re just gonna hit this post up with some fall vibes to make us all happy and inspired. (For those of you who love summer the most….I uh, I’m sorry.)

So first off we’ll start with these gorgeous cupcakes because I am hungry (as always. I’m a hobbit, you guys). I would love someone to make these for me. That would be great. (I have zero icing skills and baking is exhausting so kudos to all the bakers out there.)

I uh….NEED to live here.

I also want to live here. But like when I’m old. Old and mysterious.

I can TASTE this picture. And it tastes darn good. Fall just has the best food, ok??

I kinda just think this picture is funny BUT, surely I’m not the only one who just grabs random cool leaves in the fall and walks around with them? Put them in my hair? Takes selfies with them?

Now this picture I can SMELL. Autumn even smells good. I mean, dead leaves smell good for some reason (ah yes, *breathes in* the scent of death).

Oh to walk down this street in a warm sweater, looking for a place to snack, looking for a little place to shop. Talking about books and memories and what we’ll dress up as for Halloween.

Classic. Wet pavement. Wet leaves. Driving home from a long day, ready to light candles and curl up on the couch with dinner and watch Once Upon a Time.

Listen, fall ain’t fall without some neighbor putting up outrageous decorations which make you wonder if it’s less about the season and more about keeping all the little kiddos away.

It’s a beautiful day, and that sky will be that crazy bright blue. It’s a crisp morning. Just the right amount of chill between your sweater and your warm tea. Your soul is soaked in happiness. Everything is wonderful. You want to go make something or go antiquing.

Yes this is Bilbo Baggins peeking his head out of the top of Mirkwood to view of the Lonely Mountain. BUT IT WAS FALL OK??? They had to reach Durin’s door by the last moon of autumn and then they celebrated Bilbo’s birthday in Dale and he was sick and all he could say was “thag you very buch”???

See? The real reason I love fall is because it reminds me of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings and it makes me want to go tramping off with some dwarves or take a hike to Rivendell whilst being chased by Nazguls.

Fun times.

*throws leaves in the air* there you have it!

And we’ll just end this here. With happy thoughts.

  1. I’m sorry you had such a bad summer. I love early fall right after the leaves turn. We lived in California for years, and they don’t have a fall. The only leaves that turn are in the mountains.

  3. Oh wow, this really got me in the mood for autumn! I also love autumn because it reminds me of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings haha! I feel like there’s definitely a sense of impending adventure in the air when autumn comes round <3

  4. Ahhh, so lovely! I love all these pictures! Autumn is my favorite, too (I have a theory that it’s a Ravenclaw thing–Idk if you’re a Ravenclaw, but anyway)! But I’m not quite ready for it just yet. A couple more weeks, and then bring on the rain and leaves!
Also, for some reason Halloween really isn’t one of my favorite parts of fall? Idk why, since it is for most people, but there you are.
