Christmas Hiatus and 6 Writing Resolutions for the New Year

HEY WHAT’S UP EVERYONE I’M BACK. DID YA MISS ME??

I hope so.

I apologize for the unannounced hiatus (though I don’t apologize for the hiatus. It was Christmas and that’s just what happens during the holidays). I think there are still comments I haven’t replied to yet….(Is it too late? So sorry guys.)

BUT IT’S A NEW YEAR GUYS. 2018 HERE WE COME.

And as we welcome in the New Year, I would like us all to rise and recite with me the Writer’s Resolutions for the New Year.

*disclaimer: resolutions only to be taken serious with discretion. Resolutions are also not to be confused with revolutions. Revolutions have to do with waving flags in the air and writing pamphlets.*

Write Every Day.

(didn’t we just talk about this??) Our first resolution is to write every day of the New Year. Except of course on weekends, or when we’re sick, or too busy or –

Follow the Outline.

So many writers scrambling to write so many outlines. But how often do we writers actually follow the outline??? (OK. I’m sure a lot of us do but I think there are others dangling out there grasping at their outlines as new plot ideas drag them away).

Follow the outline this year guys (unless that new idea is really good. And that plot bunny over there, oh and that one too and-)

Don’t Hate Your Writing.

Every writer who has ever read their writing and thought “what is this hot mess who has done this” please raise your hand.

*nearly every writer on earth reaches for the sky*

Sometimes you read your writing and it just sucks.

And although it may suck, that doesn’t mean you must hate your writing. No one does it perfectly all the time, or the first, or the last time, or whatever time.

But those times when your writing really, really, really, really is bad…..

Be Nice to Your Characters

UM WHAT?? THAT IS A COMPLETE JOKE. WHO WROTE THIS???

5new

Regulate the Caffeine Intake.

Remember to drink other things than just caffeinated drinks (I’m looking at you coffee and tea *cough cough*). Drink water. Stay hydrated writers.

Me: *stands up and gets a cup of tea* Um…what was I saying?

6new

Last but not least…HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope you write many words, edit many more words, delete many more words, and write many, many, many more.

Cheers. *clinks glass*
